Professional Information:
Roy G. Norwood, Jr., President of Henry S. Miller
Investments Services, LLC, has been in the commercial real estate business since
1972 when he graduated from Southern Methodist University
with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in with
concentrations in Real Estate and Finance.
Professional
History: After
several years in the commercial real estate development
business with a national development company, Norwood has
focused exclusively on the real estate investment banking
business, arranging debt and equity financing for existing
and to-be-built commercial and multifamily properties.
Norwood started his real estate investment banking career
with Merrill Lynch where he became Vice President and
Regional Manager of Merrill Lynch Real Estate Investment
Banking Group. After eight years at Merrill Lynch,
Norwood and four of his associates joined CB Commercial
Mortgage Banking (now CBRE Melody Co.) where he was First
Vice President for six years until he left to join Grubb
& Ellis as Senior Vice President and Managing Director
of Grubb & Ellis Mortgage Group nationally.
Immediately prior to joining HSMIBG, Norwood founded and
served for over five years as President of Kensington
Capital and the Kensington Division of Berkshire Mortgage
Finance.
Production
Accomplishments: At
Merrill Lynch Real Estate Investment Banking Group Norwood
was top producer in the nation in 1984 and 1987 and was in
the top ten every year from 1982-1988. In 1985 Norwood
was awarded the Merrill Lynch Finance Award for Outstanding
Achievement. At CB Commercial Mortgage Banking Norwood
was Regional Top Producer in 1992 and 1994 and was also
ranked in the Top Ten in the nation. At Grubb &
Ellis Mortgage Group Norwood was Top Producer in the nation
for 1995-97. Norwood was named Top Investment Banker
in 1999 and 2004 by The Dallas Business Journal
and the North Texas Commercial Association of
Realtors (NTCAR) and was recognized as a “Heavy Hitter”
by the same groups in 1996, 1999, and 2003-2005. Norwood was
chosen for the prestigious Henry S. Miller Chairman’s
Council. Norwood was recognized as Top Producer for
HSMIBG in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Norwood has closed transactions in excess of
$3 billion.
Professional
Accomplishments and Associations: Norwood
earned the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation from
the Institute of Real Estate Management, for which he served
on its National Ethics Committee and as President of his
local chapter. Norwood also earned the Real Property
Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and
Managers Institute International and served as President of
the local chapter of BOMA. Norwood is a founding
member of the Society of Real Property Administrators.
Norwood
has lectured at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of
Business, Crittenden’s Meet
the Lenders conferences, Commercial
Property News conferences, M/PH’s conferences,
and has served on the Board of Directors of Capital
Sources for Real Estate – REITS, Pension Funds, and
Securitization. Norwood has been published
by Capital Sources,
National Real Estate Investor, and Real
Estate Forum.
Norwood
is a member of The Mortgage Bankers Association of America,
is a member and Past Chairman of the Commercial Committee of
the Dallas Mortgage Bankers Association, is a member of The
National Multi-Housing Council, The Real Estate Council, the
North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR), and
Dallas Real Estate Ministries (DREM).
Norwood
sits on the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee
of the Henry S. Miller Company. |
